City of Fort St. John – Northbound & Found

Recruitment and Tourism Branding & Awareness Campaign
Fort St. John, British Columbia

Monogram partnered with the City of Fort St. John to build a bold, distinct brand identity to welcome new residents and visitors to the north.

The Ask

The City of Fort St. John is a fast-growing community in northeastern BC, proudly known as the Energetic City for its relentless momentum and ambition.

The City engaged Monogram to create a distinct brand to attract new residents and tourists, grounded in the authenticity, grit and character of Fort St. John.

The Approach

Monogram led strategic sessions with the City's Communications and Economic Development teams to map audiences and identify what makes Fort St. John an attractive place to move and travel to. From those insights, we developed a standalone brand with its own name, personality and visual direction:

  • Northbound and Found — Built for residential recruitment and tourism, this brand captures the warmth, grit and authenticity of northern living through real resident stories and an ambassador program
  • Monogram produced a full suite of supporting assets for Northbound and Found: website copy, editorial booklet, digital and print advertising and three months of social media support
  • To ensure a strong internal launch, we developed a staff rollout plan—giving City employees the context, tools, and language to become brand ambassadors for this new identity
The Results

A new brand launched with strong internal momentum that also gave the City clear, confident tools to carry their story forward.

Key outcomes included:

  • City staff responded with overwhelmingly positive feedback during the rollout, with many immediately connecting to the brand narratives and feeling equipped to speak to them
  • Fort St. John now has recruitment-ready tools as well as a Northbound and Found ambassador program that brings  real resident voices into the brand, grounding the recruitment story in real experience and community
  • Northbound and Found stands independently of the City's main identity, giving partners, employers, tourism operators and community champions a shareable, credible resource they can use on their own terms
