Gitxaala Nation

Annual Report
Kitkatla, British Columbia

Monogram helped Gitxaala Nation turn a year of achievement into a report worth reading. The result was a clear, accessible annual report for 2019/20 that highlights key milestones and makes them easy for the community to engage with.

The Ask

Gitxaala Nation asked Monogram to create a clear, accessible annual report that would highlight the organization’s key achievements for the year of 2019/20.

The Approach

The Gitxaała Nation, also known as Git Lax M’oon, people of the saltwater, are one of the most ancient societies on the coast. The village of Lach Klan (Kitkatla, BC) has been continuously inhabited since time immemorial.

Gitxaała hereditary leaders from the four clans, Gisputwada, Ganhada, Lax’sgiik and Laxgibuu, manage and protect their territories and resources according to their ayaawx, traditional laws. Gitxaała harvesters use almost 100 different marine and terrestrial resources to feed their community. Gitxaała citizens, currently numbering 2094,  wherever they reside, celebrate their history, practice their traditions, respect their laws, and cherish their lands, waters and resources.

Monogram collaborated with Gitxaala to curate content, write and edit copy, and project-manage the design of a 47-page, digital-friendly Annual Report outlining the nation's work in 2019/20.

The Results

A 47-page digital-friendly report for the 2019/20 year that is embedded onto Gitxaala's website for easy navigation on both desktop and mobile.
