Branding & Community Engagement
Terrace, British Columbia

When The Ministry of Indigenous Relations and Reconciliation needed support in Terrace for in-person and virtual open houses, they called Monogram to design and deliver culturally respectful engagement materials and treaty negotiations.

The Ask

The Ministry of Indigenous Relations and Reconciliation leads the Government of British Columbia’s work to advance reconciliation with First Nations and Indigenous peoples across the province.

Monogram worked with the Ministry to provide graphic design and project management support for a month-long campaign promoting in-person and virtual community open houses in the Terrace area. The work required a distinct, culturally respectful look and feel that thoughtfully incorporated branding from the Province of British Columbia and the negotiating partners, Kitselas Nation and Kitsumkalum Nation, along with engaging display materials designed to support meaningful community participation.

The Approach

Monogram Communications took a collaborative, culturally grounded approach to support a multi-part public engagement campaign involving multiple partners and tight timelines. The work focused on coordination, clarity and respectful representation.

Key initiatives included:

  • Working closely with the Ministry to confirm project priorities, timelines and engagement goals.

  • Reviewing brand guidelines and imagery from the Province of British Columbia, Kitselas Nation and Kitsumkalum Nation to ensure consistency and cultural alignment.

  • Developing a distinct look and feel for public engagement materials, reviewed and approved by Ministry staff and both First Nations.

  • Providing project management and graphic design support to coordinate multiple reviewers, manage approvals and meet quick turnaround timelines.

  • Offering value-added editing support to ensure materials reflected the preferred language and terminology used by the First Nations.

  • Producing high-quality print and digital materials designed to support in-person and virtual open houses.

The Results

The campaign helped support meaningful public engagement and ensured community members had clear, accessible information throughout the process.

As a result, the work:

  • Supported strong attendance at both in-person and virtual open houses.

  • Increased public awareness of the treaty negotiations with Kitselas First Nation and Kitsumkalum First Nation.

  • Received positive feedback from Ministry staff and negotiating partners for the professionalism, attention to detail and engaging, culturally respectful design.

  • Delivered high-quality materials on expedited timelines, supporting the success of the public engagement sessions.
