District of Kitimat

Branding & Training
Kitimat, British Columbia

District of Kitimat set out to unify their brand communication materials (posters, notices, bulletins, digital screens) across their Corporate brand and their Leisure Services brand — and called in Monogram to make it happen, all while preserving their Corporate identity and Leisure Services identity.

The Ask

District of Kitimat is a small, close-knit community on the edge of the Douglas Channel in northwest BC, serving a population of just over 8,000 through two core brands: its corporate identity and its leisure services identity.

The District's communications team needed both brands to feel unmistakably "Kitimat" across every touchpoint, along with easy-to-use Canva templates their staff could implement with or without design experience.

The Approach

To build templates the team could integrate into their workflow, Monogram started by listening—then designed a toolkit built for long-term, in-house use.

  • Surveyed corporate and leisure services staff to identify template gaps, usage habits and comfort level with Canva
  • Designed a full suite of templates including digital notices, customizable event posters, bulletin signage and tri-fold brochure (with multiple layouts)
  • Delivered a live webinar training that paired hands-on onboarding with Design 101 fundamentals
  • Converted the training into a 14-page leave-behind guide covering design principles, template use and social media tips
The Results

District of Kitimat's corporate and leisure services teams now have a shared, easy-to-use template library and a lasting design resource they can turn to long after the training ends.

  • Equipped two internal teams with self-serve tools, reducing reliance on external design support
  • Delivered a 14-page reference guide built for long-term staff use and onboarding
  • Strengthened brand consistency across every communication channel, corporate and leisure alike
