Canada Games Council – Grant Applications

Media & Public Relations
Canada

As the Canada Games Council explored new funding pathways, they needed a clear strategy for engaging Canadian family foundations. Monogram provided research, outreach support, and a toolkit to set the foundation for ongoing fundraising success.

The Ask

The Canada Games is the largest amateur multi-sport event in the country, bringing together over 2,500 athletes aged 13–18 to compete in nearly 20 sports every two years. To strengthen its long-term sustainability, the Canada Games Council (CGC) sought new ways to diversify funding.

CGC engaged Monogram to identify and connect with Canadian family foundations while supporting the development of strong grant applications. The goal was to build a toolkit for ongoing fundraising success.

The Approach

Monogram conducted a full analysis of foundation funding streams and crafted tailored materials to advance CGC’s outreach:

  • Researched and categorized 26 Canadian family foundations for strategic alignment

  • Developed four LOI templates reflecting CGC’s brand, values, and priorities

  • Submitted personalized LOIs and grant applications through targeted online portals

The Results

The collaboration equipped CGC with both immediate opportunities and long-term tools for fundraising:

  • Submitted LOIs or applications to six foundations to date, with more in progress

  • Delivered a reusable set of four branded LOI templates for future requests

  • Enhanced CGC’s fundraising capacity by establishing a clear, repeatable grant strategy
